Position Objectives:

The Chariton Police Department is seeking a motivated and community-oriented Patrol Officer to join our team. This position is responsible for protecting life and property, enforcing laws, responding to calls for service, conducting traffic enforcement, and building positive relationships within the community. The Chariton Police Department consists of a Police Chief, Sergeant and four full-time patrol officers.


 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Patrol Officer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Patrol assigned areas to deter crime

  • Respond to emergency and service calls

  • Enforce laws and traffic regulations

  • Investigate incidents and complete reports

  • Assist the public and promote community safety

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants should have the following:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Two years of college or previous experience is preferred
  • ILEA certification or the ability to obtain is required

The City of Chariton will provide training for the right candidate. Continue education is also provided.
