Chariton Cemetery
The Chariton Cemetery is owned and operated by the City of Chariton. Established in 1864, the cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010 for its historical and architectural significance. The historic 45-acre cemetery is known for its peaceful landscape, curving roadways, and mature trees. It features a historic entrance gate, chapel/rest house, and sections honoring generations of local families and veterans.
