 3. APPROVAL OF THE FOLLOWING CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS:

 A. Accept and place on file the City Manager’s Report dated July 21, 2008.

B. Accept and place on file the Minutes of the City Council meeting held on July7, 2008.

 4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS –

 A. First reading of an ordinance to make the intersection of 18th and Ilion a 4 way stop and to install yield signs on 17th St at its intersection with Ilion Ave.

B.  Corvette Club of Iowa comments on Corvette Rally.

 5. NEW BUSINESS

A. Approve use of the City Square for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Cancer Walk

B. Consider approving an election for a Motel-Hotel tax.

C. Approve a change order for the swimming pool.

D. Approve a resolution to fix a date for public hearings on Loan Agreements for constructing streets improvements, acquisition of a fire truck, and maintenance equipment, refunding general obligations notes series 2001, and improvements to City Hall and the Fire station.

E. Conduct a Public hearing for the 2008 Street rehabilitation project

F. Resolution approving and confirming plans, specs, form of contracts, and estimate of costs for the 2008 Street Rehabilitation project.

G. Review Bids and adopt a resolution awarding the contract.

H. Consider approval to advertise for proposals for contracting grave digging services at the Chariton Cemetery.

I. Consider approving an architect for the City Hall and Fire Station repair.

J. Abatement Hearing for 721 Linden Ave, Chariton, Iowa.

K. Approve a grant application for water Quality improvement at East Lakes.

L. Approve Housing Board appointments.

M. Discuss obtaining properties from Lucas County.
